About Us
Menagerie House was founded in 2022 by Sarah and Christopher Glass, who remain the sole owners and managers of the property.
After fifteen years in teaching, Sarah chose to redirect her focus toward creating carefully considered domestic spaces. What began as a single project developed into a long-term commitment to reworking historic houses with clarity and intention.
Following an extended search for the right building in the right setting, Menagerie House became the first realised project. The approach combined structural respect for the architecture with a disciplined use of colour and detail, resulting in a city-centre house that feels authored rather than installed.
In 2024, Pocket Cottage followed. Located in the North Yorkshire village of Stillington, it applies the same principles within a smaller, rural footprint. Although the two houses differ in scale and context, both are shaped by the same priorities: spatial integrity, rhythm and controlled layering.
